Work for us

Theatre Resource is an amazing organisation to work for. Straddling the arts, education, health and social care sectors, and working in visual, media and performing arts, the charity provides a wide range of opportunities for disabled people and other socially-excluded groups to become involved in creativity, acquire new skills, gain qualifications and secure employment and supported employment within the arts and creative industries. Employing 25 people and with a projected turnover in 2009/10 of over £1.2m, Theatre Resource is one of the larger disabled-led arts organisations in the UK and the only one to own and operate its own arts education centre.

As we approach our 20th birthday, we are about to embark on a major capital development which will see our centre in Essex expanding to become a fully accessible residential education facility, our organisation growing its income base with new funding from the FE and HE sectors, and a range of new partnership opportunities opening up.

Future Jobs Fund
We have recently been successful in securing money from the Future Jobs Fund to create 56 jobs lasting 6 months each over the next 2 years. These jobs are for people aged 18-24 who have been claiming Job Seekers Allowance for 6 months or more. Graduate Internships
If you are interested in one of our graduate internships please visit our page on the Graduate Talent Pool website.

What our graduate interns say about us:

When I joined Theatre Resource as a graduate intern a few months ago I hoped to gain practical experience within a charitable arts organisation. With the current economic situation making it harder than ever for graduates to break into the professional world, my internship has been a positive way to gain the skills needed for permanent future employment.

My role as Marketing Intern was both varied and challenging and I was given real responsibility from the outset. Working in an encouraging and supportive environment, I was involved in everything from liaising with local journalists to locating a ceremonial ‘golden’ shovel for a special event.

I will be leaving Theatre Resource to take up my first full-time job as a Commissioning Assistant with Oxford University Press. I have really enjoyed my time with Theatre Resource and I would like to thank everyone for their help and support, in particular the Marketing and Communications team, as I take the first steps towards a new career.

Kirsten Shankland – Marketing Intern for Theatre Resource Jan – April 2010
